The customer requested that the repair can restore the original size of the screw, surface hardness> HRC55, no deformation of the screw, no pores in the coating, and it cannot fall off in the extrusion. Customers have tried thermal spraying and surfacing in traditional surface repair techniques, but the repair results have defects to varying degrees.
When repairing by thermal spraying, the thickness of the coating should not be too thick, and it is difficult to recover the size when the thread wear is severe. At the same time, the combination of the thermal spray repair coating and the screw substrate is a mechanical combination, and the bonding strength is low, and the coating is prone to peeling under severe working conditions. In addition, there are certain pores in the thermal spray coating, which will also affect the working life of the screw.
During the surfacing repair, the traditional surfacing welding (manual or plasma surfacing) has a large heat input, which can easily cause the screw to deform, and the heat-affected zone of the substrate is large.
Laser cladding has obvious advantages over these two typical traditional surface repair technologies. The coating thickness is suitable, and the substrate is metallurgically combined. The coating is dense and non-porous, and has a small heat input and no deformation.
